Taz Rugs

The Iznaguen Women’s Cooperative for Authentic Carpets was founded on 16 April 2009 in the municipality of Iznaguen, in the centre of Taznakht, within the province of Ouarzazate in Morocco’s Drâa-Tafilalet region. Today, the cooperative brings together 16 women artisans who share a commitment to preserving the ancestral art of Amazigh weaving while sustainably improving their living conditions.

The cooperative enables the women to produce and sell their rugs without intermediaries, ensuring fair remuneration and recognition for their skills and expertise. Each rug is a unique, entirely handwoven piece, made using natural materials and colours inspired by Amazigh landscapes, traditions, and cultural symbols.

To promote their craft internationally, the cooperative created the brand TazRugs, short for Taznakht Rugs. The brand reflects the authenticity, quality, and history of each rug, while establishing a direct connection between the craftswomen and international markets.
